The Society of Emerging Poets

What: A poetry gathering called The Society of Emerging Poets. A welcoming space to write, perform, listen to, and be inspired by poetry.

When: Tuesday 9 June 2026, 5.00–6.30 pm.

Where: Oodi Library, 3rd floor, Saarikoski carpet area.

Language: Finnish, English, Swedish, any language goes really, but the main hosting and facilitating language is Finnish. 

Who: Open to everyone. Participants can write their first poem, perform a poem publicly for the first time, recite a favorite poem, or simply join the gathering and listen.

How: Come to the Saarikoski carpet area and take part in the poetry session. You may write, recite, listen, move, reflect, or simply be present. No registration is required.

Ticket price: Free admission.

Life calls for exploration, experimentation, and the courage to follow new paths. In doing so, we create the conditions for something new to emerge and be born.

The Society of Emerging Poets is a gathering dedicated to the creation and sharing of poetry. Participants are invited to write their first poem, perform a poem publicly for the first time, recite the work of a favorite poet, or share a poem that holds personal significance. The event welcomes both experienced writers and those who have never written or performed poetry before.

The gathering takes place at the Saarikoski carpet area in Oodi Library on Tuesday 9 June 2026. Together, participants can pause and immerse themselves in the flow of words, movement, rhythm, and emotion.

The best way to experience the event is to join in whatever way feels natural. You may write a poem, recite one aloud, listen to others, engage in discussion, or simply enjoy the atmosphere and draw inspiration from the shared experience.
