2. Decorative Wine Ewer
A decorative Rococo-style wine ewer dating from 1760. The ewer was originally used in the Ulrika Eleonora Church. The knob of the lid is shaped like a pine cone, and the handle is decorated with plant motifs. The upper rim of the vessel is encircled by engraved ornaments featuring fruit and floral motifs.
On the spout, there is a relief of leaves, beneath which runs a decorative band. The tall-footed ewer rests on three gilded feet that are integrated with the rocaille ornamentation of the vessel.
A similar ewer can be found in the Helsingin pitäjän kirkko, donated to the church by Johan Sederholm. The ewer in there was made by Henrik Sohlberg. It is therefore quite possible that the wine ewer from Ulrika Eleonora Church was also crafted by Sohlberg, as both the date of manufacture and Sederholm’s historical connections would support this attribution.
