The loan storehouse is located on Lampintie in the center of Toholampi and is an important part of the local cultural heritage. It was built in 1858 as the parish’s own grain storehouse, intended to secure access to grain especially during years of crop failure and famine. The structure was made from pine logs and spruce bins, and the construction was carried out by tenant farmer Aaprami Rauma.

The storehouse was managed by three caretakers who held the keys and were responsible for opening and operating the facility. Administration was handled by a separate board consisting of a chairperson, members and a bookkeeper. During the difficult years of the eighteen sixties the storehouse provided grain for both seed and food, making it an important refuge.

The building remains a valuable monument to the communal spirit of past generations. It has been restored through volunteer work using traditional methods and continues to be a visible part of the cultural landscape of Toholampi.
