4. Balcony Foyer

The first idea for the Music Hall was born in 1992: the Sibelius Academy wanted more space close to its other offices in Töölö.in 1994, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra (HKO) and the Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSO) joined the project, hoping for an acoustically functional concert hall. At the same time, the idea of bringing students and professionals together in the same building was born. Construction started in 2006 and was completed in 2011, with the opening ceremony taking place on 31 August and 1 September 2011.

After the completion of the Music Hall in spring 2011, the poet Ilpo Tiihonen in the Helsinki Sanomat newspaper what kind of literature the Töölönlahti buildings represent "Kiasma is a Japanese haiku holding the rain, while Sanomatalo is more like a dishwasher manual. The Finlandia House is a laconic drama, while the Opera House is a combination of a fairy tale and the Golden Book of Behaviour. MUSIIKKITALO is an urban green romance whose petty bourgeois surface is deceptive. The content is about moving relationships and speeches. It is a monostructure of inverted sentences, irregular syntax and wilting harmony. Rhythmic bends and unexpectedly illuminated lines ring within it. Even in the silence. There is a happy ending to this novel."

Now continue your journey towards the other end of the Parvilämpiö, where you will find another set of stairs back down to the lower floor. When you reach the bottom, turn left towards the corridor and stop at the next point next to the glass wall of the Concert Hall.
