Description
Mikro-Kosmos is a unique exhibition that brings the visual culture of Kosmos Festival into the heart of Helsinki. As part of the festival's wider artistic programme, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of visionary, surrealist, and psychedelic-inspired rave art gathered in a single space.
For the duration of the exhibition, Yö-Galleria is transformed into an enchanted woodland environment where paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and installations merge into an immersive spatial experience. The works are connected by a shared vision: interpretations of the spirit of the northern forest through the eyes of artists whose lives are rooted in urban environments.
The participating artists represent the vibrant visual arts community of Finland's alternative culture scene, where self-made aesthetics, imaginative worldbuilding, and psychedelic visual expression have developed a distinctive artistic language of their own.
Following along
The best way to experience the exhibition is to wander freely through the gallery space and allow the artworks, installations, and atmosphere to unfold gradually. The exhibition has been designed as an immersive environment in which individual works form part of a larger narrative and sensory experience.
Yö-Galleria
Located on Lönnrotinkatu in central Helsinki, Yö-Galleria provides an intimate setting for experimental and contemporary visual art. For Mikro-Kosmos, the gallery is transformed into a dreamlike forest landscape that blurs the boundaries between gallery space and imagined nature.
The artists and the forest
Through painting, sculpture, ceramics, and installation art, the participating artists explore themes of nature, imagination, altered perception, and the relationship between urban life and the wilderness. Together, their works create a contemporary interpretation of the northern forest as a place of mystery, transformation, and collective imagination.
Collaboration
Mikro-Kosmos is presented as part of Kosmos Festival, an international gathering dedicated to alternative electronic music, visual arts, performance, workshops, and lectures. The sold-out festival takes place in Närhilä, Ristiina, from 9–12 July 2026 and brings together participants from Finland and around the world to celebrate creativity, community, and artistic exploration.
