Sysmä is a vibrant and nature-oriented municipality located on the shores of Lake Päijänne. Sysmä is known for its beautiful lake landscapes, strong village community, and diverse leisure activities available year-round.

Sysmä has around 1,000 km of shoreline, and Kammiovuori, one of the highest points in southern Finland, is located in its northern part. The municipality is about 70 km from Lahti, 100 km from Jyväskylä, and less than a two-hour drive from the Helsinki metropolitan area. The nearest town, Heinola, is about a 30-minute drive away.
