Holy Trinity Icon

An icon painted by Natalia Tamer depicting the Hospitality of Abraham. The icon is based on the account in Chapter 18 of the Book of Genesis, which describes Abraham’s encounter with three angels. The three angels were interpreted as representing the three persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In the story, Abraham offers a meal to the three angels. In this icon, the dining table has been transformed into an altar, and the chalice placed upon it symbolizes the sacrifice of Christ, that is, the Eucharistic chalice. The icon is based on the model of Andrei Rublev’s icon.
