2. Kansalaistori Entrance
Here's what Musiikkitalo is like, and what happens here. Meanwhile, you can continue your journey inside, either through the revolving doors or through the door on the left by pressing the button on the wall. Then stop inside Musiikkitalo near the entrance.
Musiikkitalo is a concert and event venue in the heart of Helsinki, which opened in August 2011. The house hosts more than 1200 events every year: concerts ranging from classical music to jazz, folk music and rock, as well as corporate and private events. More than half of the public events are free of charge, making it easy to enjoy culture.
Musiikkitalo's main partners are the Helsinki City Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts. The fact that music students and professionals work in the same building is unique internationally. In addition to the main orchestras, the house hosts events organized by a wide range of independent musicians.
Musiikkitalo is a meeting place open to all. The building is open all year round and its central location makes it easy to get to. Even before Musiikkitalo was built, the area was a pedestrian route from the Töölö district towards the railway station. Today, the same route runs both inside Musiikkitalo and outside on the green deck.
Passing through, dropping by, and staying is allowed and welcome in Musiikkitalo. Openness is an important value in Musiikkitalo, and the house was not built just for concert-goers. The extensive use of glass in the exterior wall creates an open atmosphere, and the glass belt between the Concert Hall and the Main Foyer also opens up the Concert Hall in an exceptional way to passers-by. Musiikkitalo is an important meeting place where different audiences, music professionals, and students can meet and exchange ideas.
Special attention has been paid to accessibility, with tactile floor mouldings for the visually impaired and a number of raised stair rails for each floor. There are no thresholds, and there are raised map signs and signposts with braille.
The entrance you came in a moment ago is behind you. Turn right towards the Musiikkitalo café at the next signpo
