Lyngentrappa (The Lyngen Steps) is a Sherpa staircase built by Sherpas from Nepal. The staircase comprises nearly 1,000 steps and covers 200 altitude metres. It winds its way up the hillside at Giæverlia in Lyngseidet.
The Sherpa staircase forms part of a longer hike that starts in the centre of Lyngseidet, with an access route through Giæverlia, and continues up to Verdens Ende (The World’s End) and Kjosaksla.
The Lyngen Steps continues as a path along Eidnasen to Verdens Ende (468 m.a.s.l.). A path leads up from this point to Kjosaksla (897 m.a.s.l.). From here, you will be rewarded with wonderful views of the Lyngen Alps, Kjosen, Lake Rottenvikvannet, the Lyngenfjord and Lyngseidet.
You can return via the same route or via the tractor road down to Lyngseidet.
Using the Lyngen Steps is not recommended when they are covered by snow and ice.
