Haukiputaan Heitto ry

Haukiputaan Heitto is one of Northern Finland’s largest and most diverse sports clubs — founded in 1933 and still going strong. The club offers a wide range of activities across more than ten sports, from volleyball and wrestling to floorball, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis, badminton, orienteering, triathlon and adventure sports. An active veterans’ division, Vierivät Kivet, is also part of the community.

Heitto has been widely recognized for its achievements, receiving honors such as the SLU Wihuri Award and the title of Sports Club of the Year in Northern Ostrobothnia. The wrestling division has been especially successful, producing multiple world champions and being named Finland’s best wrestling club in 2004. The swimming and gymnastics divisions are part of the Olympic Committee’s Tähtiseura Program, earning the Tähtiseura of the Year award in 2023 for outstanding youth work.
